Bread And Water "Everything So Far" CD $8.50 A thirty song discography of this powerful and popular band from Dallas, TX. By taking the melodic-but-powerful approach incorporated by bands like So Much Hate and adding their own flavor, Bread And Water forged an instantly recogizable sound that is not easy to describe. Check it out yourself. Here are three songs from the CD: Hear the song "End The Drug War" Hear the song "Entertainment" Hear the song "No Compromise" Hey, if you like that, there are 27 more on the CD. You vinyl fans can check out their three releases on Burrito Records, all still in print. Effigies "Reside" CD $12 Here's the all new studio album by the classic Chicago band. And to be honest, the first spin left me feeling a little hollow. Was I missing something? But the second or third time around, something grabbed me -- melodies so catchy, they'll be running through my head for weeks. While "Reside" is not as great as "Haunted Town" and there is nothing as manic as "Strong Box," it is unmistakably The Effigies. John Kedzy's voice still commands attention. The guitar has bite. The backing vocals are memorable. All ten songs are in the traditional Effigies mid-tempo range. Thrashers will be disappointed because this ain't thrash, but those who can appreciate clever word-play and well-crafted songs will enjoy. F "The Danger Is Here" CD-r ($8.50) Florida's notorious destructo-rockers. Here is their 1984 cassette-only release available on compact disc. Nine songs including "Dementia 13," "How I Die!," "Spit It Out" and more. Four of the songs from "The Danger Is Here" were released on vinyl by Burrito Records as the "Four From '84" 7". If that record left you wanting more, here it is! Check out the song "I Saw Your Vision in A Three Car Collision" And see a video of F playing this song live in 1982 at Finder's Lounge. F "Raw Bones" CD-r ($8.50) F, the band that would not die, strikes back with an all-new, ten-song studio album. The current line up includes Alex Hood (from the Drills), Dave Damaged (from Rugged Edge), Marc C (from Iron Nipple) and, as always, the most dangerous man in Florida, Flash on lead vocals and sledgehammer. Part punk rock, part hard rock, all insane. Listen to the song, "Nobody." And see a video of F playing "Spit It Out" live at Sound Idea on March 8, 2008. Frantix "My Dad's A Fuckin' Alcoholic" CD $12 Kind of an old release (2003), but we just restocked it. This time we got a lot of copies because they sell fast. Sixteen sludge-punk classicks from these early 1980s Colorado rockers. The Frantix probably thought they were aping the Stooges, but the resulting tunes are much more twisted. If you like Flipper, No Trend, the Urinals, Melvins, Drunks With Guns and early Butthole Surfers, this is probably right up your alley. You have probably heard the audacious title track on the "Killed By Death Vol. 6" compilation -- and if you haven't I'll let you have the pleasure of discovering it for yourself. Maniax "The Lost Tapes" CD $12 In 1981, a bunch of 14 year olds from Fresno, CA discovered punk rock and said, "We can do that!" So they grabbed a tape recorder with a handheld mic and made a pile of recordings. One of those songs, "Off To War," featuring a laughably inept but somehow awesome guitar solo, was selected by Maximum Rocknroll zine to appear on the milestone, "Not So Quiet On The Western Front" double album. Since then I, and no doubt thousands of others, have wondered, "Just who are these Maniax?" and "What else did they record?" This 34 track disc contains everything else the Maniax recorded including a live set from the Mab and commentary from Maximum Rocknroll Radio. Plasmid "S/T" 7" $5 Raw, raw, raw hardcore from England, 1984. Plasmid contains members of the godlike Heresy but pre-dates that group. These five songs were originally recorded on a boom box in a bedroom. Considering the stone age technology and the age of the source copy, this e.p. sounds surprisingly good. Raw, but very listenable. And very fast. And very pissed off. The fellow I bought this from says it sounds a lot like Mob 47 and I agree. The guitar is an endless wall of fuzz. The drumming is relentless. And the vocals bark above the chaos. The packaging is absolutely stellar: a six panel fold out cover and three inserts. Graphics are in the classic black-and-white/cut- and-patse anarcho style, complete with actual type-written lyrics (not a computer font made to look like an old typewriter.) I can't think of a single way to make this a better record. An obscurity gets a new life. War/System "Incoming!" 7" $3.50 Two ripping crust numbers from the UK, similar to "Cybergod"-era Nausea. Limited to 300 copies. V/A "I Thrash Therefore I Am" LP $10 A slightly abbreviated version of the brain-busting international thrash compilation, originally released on tape back in 1985 by BCT. Multiple tracks by these essential bands: Mob 47 (9 songs), Product Assar (2 songs), Moderat Likvidation (4 songs), Existenz (4 songs), Akutt Innleggelse (2 songs), Anti-cimex (3 songs) and Enola Gay (6 songs). Alternative Tentacles Records was established in June of 1979 and is most likely the longest lasting (and still active) underground record label around. Although it is perceived by many as a "punk" label, having released records by Dead Kennedys and others, it is actually best known for its impact on the world of underground culture. Articles Of Faith "Vol. 1" LP/CD Articles of Faith was one of the premier American hardcore bands of the early '80s. Combining thrash, reggae, and noise, the group was notable for its political lyrics, three-guitar attack, and sponsorship of the Chicago scene. AOF released two Eps and two LPs, and toured North America many times from 1983-1985. The group disbanded in 1985, but reunited with all original members for a brief European tour in 1991. They have not played together since. BGK "A Dutch Feast: Discography" CD These Dutch punks offered one of the most furious and intense displays of hardcore the world has ever seen! Their entire discography collected. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Burning Image "1983-1987" CD In the 20-year gap between Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and Korn, what do you do in a place like Bakersfield? Somehow four town mutants found each other and cooked up a stew of punk, goth and more than a bit of hardcore and surfaced briefly as Burning Image. Jello Biafra was floored by a demo played only once on Maximum Rock n Roll and invited them to open for The Dead Kennedys in San Francisco. An amazing but now rare single followed, then the band disappeared. People who've blundered into the 7" with its stunning songs and Rudimentary Peni/Amebix- caliber artwork have been left wondering, "Who were these guys?" Now it can be told. All 10 songs from the "Final Conflict" sessions produced by Chaz Ramirez (Adolescents, Social Distortion, Leaving Trains) plus 3 gems recorded later. Especially recommended for fans of TSOL's "Dance With Me" & "Beneath the Shadows" LP's, The Phantom Limbs, 45 Grave, early Christian Death, and the Batcave bands that rocked. A real find and a vital piece of goth/punk history! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Crucifucks "Our Will Be Done" CD This stone-cold freak punk classic from Michigan madmen The Crucifucks is the perfect antidote for our skin deep society! Combines Virus 38 (s/t) and Virus 53 ("Wisconsin") albums with their track from MRR's Welcome To 1984) compilation. Check out the genius that is Doc Dart and the Crucifucks! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Crucifucks "L.D. Eye" CD The third Crucifucks release, L.D. Eye, was recorded at Smart Studios in Madison, WI. Doc enthusiastically announces that this release "charts creative waters far beyond what was possible in the 1980s." (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Dicks "1980-86" CD Along with Big Boys, the Dicks were a powerful example of the early Texan hardcore scene. Influence of many contemporary bands, from the Jesus Lizard to Mudhoney and beyond. Includes their singles, selected album tracks and live material! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
DOA "War on 45" 12" The Canadian legends produce one of the greatest punk EPs ever. Classic D.O.A. the likes of Hardcore '81 and Something Better Change! Hardly anything can touch these 8 tunes for speed and elegantly egalitarian anger. Includes their epic cover of J. Edwin Starr's "War" and The Dils "Class War". Also here is their classic political blast "America The Beautiful" and their classic yet not-so-political "Let's Fuck". Also check out the many D.O.A. releases on Sudden Death Records. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Drunk Injuns "From Where The Sun Sets" CD From out of the annals of punk history come DRUNK INJUNS, the heavyweights of skate punk bands. As mysterious as the Residents, this offering of DRUNK INJUNS' early recordings circa 1983-84, packs a powerful 1-2 punch with searing guitars, a heavy driving back-beat, and mature, introspective messages delivered in a unique vocal style. While emerging from the same culture that spawned the typically anthemic skate punk sound, DRUNK INJUNS have a unique sonic signature to be filed under "brooding," "moody" and "caustic." Imagine bands like the Dead Boys, Joy Division, the Ramones, Sleepers, Hank Williams, Negative Trend, Rik L Rik, and the Doors rolled up into one with a vicious twist. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Eat "It's Not The Eat, It's The Humidity" 2xLP/2xCD The Alternative Tentacles Reissues of Necessity is back! We've hooked another live one from the swirling depths of the most obscure, desirable, and just plain deranged. Like many early punk pioneers The Eat operated in a near-total vacuum, in that infamous cesspool of clueless retirees and moronic sun worshippers known as South Florida. Forming in 1978 and playing their first show in July of 1979, it took another year before they were able to record. Their classic 7"s were rare and sought after from the moment they came out, distribution was nil, most were given away at shows and crushed on the spot, some even wound up lining a parrot cage. The result is that their 7-inches "Communist Radio" and "God Punishes the Eat" are some of the most sought after and obscenely expensive Killed By Death items ever! Sure the limited/mangled pressings helped, but the band's twisted angle on the world has a lot to do with the value placed on their early vinyl. Specifically: political concerns like "Communist Radio", "Nut Cops", Kneecappin'" and "Nixon's Binoculars." Environmental awareness like "Manatee Smacker," "M-80 Ant Death," and "Living Like a Pig," as well as numerous celebrations of that seedy Florida lifestyle like "Catholic Love", "Silly Drug Songs", "Money for the Police" and "Psychotic McHale's Navy." The Eat reappeared sporadically clear through the mid-'90s, yet still seem unaware how wide their cult and notoriety has spread, especially among people who've never actually heard them. There's a lot of information packed into this package to help those latter folks out, in full color! Both early 7"s are here, the audio dropouts in the five "God Punishes" songs fixed up at last, followed by the entire "Scattered Wahoo Action" cassette album and all the unreleased songs from their aborted "Hialeah" album that was chopped down to their third and final seven inch. Sound is top- floor melodic punk 'n' roll - sort of a sped-up Real Kids with rock-bottom Angry Samoans-style lyrics. Disc One's a whopping 30+ studio tracks, many never before released. The CD version comes with a bonus live disc with two dozen more great-sounding songs and many a crude rude remark from band to audience. A landmark release from a landmark band on a landmark label! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
False Prophets "Blind Roaches" CD Seminal NY punk from the early 80's. Tons of non-released stuff and rare singles (from our "re- issues" series) Eclectic punk, melding flat-out thrash and slow psychedelic drones, bass-driven reggae, rap-inflected grooves, and punk-rock opera. Critics liked to compare them to DEAD KENNEDYS, as well as early CLASH and GANG OF FOUR. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Fartz "Discography: Because This World" LP/CD The year was 1981 and hardcore was on the rise... Blaine, Steve, Loud, and Paul made up one of the West Coast's most seminal bands of the time, with scathingly political lyrics and collage artwork to match. Members later went on to such bands as Ten Minute Warning, The Accused and Guns n' Roses! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Fartz "What's In A Name" LP/CD Searing Seattle hardcore pioneers The FARTZ are back with a bang! Like last fall's Ratos De Parao "Sistemados Pelo Crucifa" album, this new Fartz re-recording is arguably more insane than the first time around. That's right, all but one of these songs appeared on the re-issue "Because This Fuckin' World Still Stinks..." LP/CD that we released in 1998. Yet re-done with state-of-the-art kick ass ass production and delivery most will feel far superior to the original.
(Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.) Fartz "Injustice" LP/CD The Fartz, hailing from 'neath the dreary skies of Seattle, terrorized the Northwest in the early 80's and reformed in 1998 after a long hiatus. Finally, here's an album of all new material channeling their pent up hardcore rage of post-Reagan years! Blaine's caustic paint-peeling vocals are still intact, fortified by the return of the original bassist/lyricist/art "genius" Steve, plus Alex Maggot Brain (ex-Accused) on guitar and Karl Fowler (ex-Detonators, North American Bison) on drums. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Free Beer "The Only Beer That Matters" CD These local brothers were just a part of the short list of founding fathers of the budding musical and cultural movement known as Skate-Rock. Collection of never before heard studio and live tracks. Art work and photos by legendary skate photographers Mofo and Bryce 'BK' Kanights and original logo art by Ex-Pro Skater Keith 'Slasher' Meek. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
I Object "Teaching Revenge" LP/CD Rochester, NY's I Object crank out another stellar 7" of brutal no-frills punk. Here's five originals and a Spitboy cover played in their signature catchy-and-raging sound that few bands today can really capture. Lead vocalist Barb's lyrics are direct and passionately screamed, lashing into society's daily dose of shit and ego-driven assholes (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra and DOA "Last Scream of" CD The album-length result of Biafra's collaboration with long-time associates D.O.A.. Both DKs and D.O.A. began playing music in the same week of 1978, so perhaps this project was bound to happen. It sure seems like it... Tough, smart, and rockin! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra and No Means No CD A match made in Canada! Eight songs inspired by the Terminal City sessions, including an alternate version of "Falling Space Junk." Also features "Bad," "Sharks in the Gene Pool" and "Chew." (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra with the Melvins "Never Breathe" LP/CD What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? What happens when the most controversial Punk Rock vocalist/activist on earth teams up with the heaviest band of our time? What happens when Jello Biafra and the Melvins put their collective heads together and do an album? "Never Breathe What you Can't See" is what happens! A musical monster of massive proportions is born, bristling with Jello's manic energy and anchored by the sheer heft of the Melvins' collective heaviness. With both camps flexing their musical prowess, the result is something that retains the signature qualities of both artists and yet sounds refreshingly unlike anything that either has recorded in the past. If the tag team of Jello Biafra and the Melvins wasn't enough, there's guests from Tool, Phantom Limbs, Fleshies, Frisk, Spitboy, Malnourished, and Gag Order as well! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra with the Melvins "Sieg Howdy" LP/CD The second sonic sledgehammer from the tag team of the new millenium, Jello Biafra and The Melvins! This time there's some new songs, some covers (Alice Cooper's "Halo Of Flies" and an updated DKs "California Uber Alles"!), and some favorites from the first Jelvins album re-mixed by Al Jourgensen (Ministry, Lard), Dalek, and the Deaf Nephews! Don't forget to grab the first Jello/Melvins explosion! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra "No More Cocoons" 2xLP/CD A collection of humorous stories, chilling words, and pointed observations. Sets the tone and style with readings and the first of his improvised talks on censorship. No one who hears these albums will ever vote for Al Gore. CD version features a "new improved version" of "Names For Bands." (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra "High Priest of" 2xLP/CD Part two in Biafra's spoken word series focuses on the dark roots of rock censorship and how it led to the infamous Frankenchrist trial. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra "I Blow Minds For A Living" 2xLP/CD Third spoken word album addresses Biafra's 1979 mayoral campaign, an updated version of the scathing Gulf War Piece "Die For Oil, Sucker," the pro-hemp "Grow More Pot," plus a wide variety of new and expanded topics. Released in 1991, "I BLOW MINDS..." includes the anti- Gulf War rant "Die for Oil, Sucker" which was originally released as an emergency anti-war 7". Over a decade later, it's still relevant because the same players are pushing the same agendas under the new guise of "war on terrorism." (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra and Mojo Nixon "Prairie Home" LP/CD Biafra doing country? Collaborating with Mojo Nixon? Classic high adventures in backwoods masking. Excellent collection of original and alarmingly faithful renditions of lost and twisted country classics. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra "If Evolution is Outlawed" 3xLP/3xCD Spoken Word Album #5 from Jello, covering drugs, the death penalty, censorship, Mumia, Clinton, and as always, so much more! A stiff shot of reality... shaken, not stirred! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra "Become The Media" 3xLP/3xCD The sixth installment in his spoken word albums. Jello Biafra is the former leader of DEAD KENNEDYS and collaborator in the ongoing LARD project. Jello's last spoken word release If Evolution is Outlawed, Only Outlaws Will Evolve was released in November 1998 to rave reviews. Recently, Alternative Tentacles Records released THE NO WTO COMBO "live from the battle in Seattle" LP/CD which featured Jello Biafra, Kim Thayil and Krist Novoselic protesting & rocking against the World Trade Organization (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra "Machine Gun In The" 3xLP/3xCD At last the full, no holds barred, album on how the war on terrorism went terribly wrong and what we can do about it. Expands on The Big Ka-Boom, Part Onewith more in-depth details, plus a eye-brow raising recap of the Florida election Fraud Follies - complete with a trademark searing reply to anyone who still thinks Ralph Nader cost Al Gore the election. Jello Biafra releases his 7th spoken word album. Everyone who hears this will agree this is one of his finest and most entertaining releases ever. It contains material recorded during his spoken word performances over the past year, including up-to-the-minute dialog regarding the situation in Iraq. Probably his funniest release to date, where he busts out impersonations - from world leaders to his high school geometry teacher. Yet, humor aside, it is one of his most stirring and emotional albums. Jello talks about the Mid-East crisis, The War On Terrorism, Voting, Joey Ramone, Corporate Controlled Mass Media, Geneticaly Modified Food, Corporate Feudalism, Patriotism, The Energy Crisis, Dead Kennedys, Civil Liberties, George Bush I & George Bush II, The Spirit Of Seattle, more dirt on Florida, Darryl Cherney & Judi Bari, War Veterans... Oh and wait until you see the cover image and the back-cover image. Artwork dreamt about by Jello and executed by world- class poster artist, Chuck Sperry; with his trademarked collage insert created by Chris Shaw. You'll probably want to get the LP version too - even if you don't have a turntable - just so you can have a larger version of the artwork. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Jello Biafra "In The Grip Of Official Treason" 3xCD With Iraq gone to hell in a handbasket, Rome falling at home, and the so-called opposition party searching for a spine, it's high time for Jello Biafra and his merry mouth to tip the cow and set the barn on fire. As always, Jello whacks the moles wherever he finds them in spoken word extravaganza #8, in a beautiful triple cd digipack. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
JFA "We Know You Suck" CD Absolutely crucial skate rock from the masters! This is all of their earliest, rawest, and most rockin' records. 1981's Blatant Localism ep, 1983's Valley of the Yakes lp, plus rare comp and live tracks! CD only. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Los Olvidados "Listen To This" CD Even at 20 years old, this stuff still sounds so vital and youthful that you'll have no choice but to dust off your deck, drain the pool, and skate! Seminal skaterock band from San Jose, CA (1980- 1983) heavily influenced by the first wave of punk rock (Stooges, NY Dolls, Dead Boys, Radio Birdman, Saints, etc.,) LOS OLVIDADOS were the Northern California equivalent of T.S.O.L., Agent Orange, the Adolescents, and others from Orange County. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Mentally Ill "Gacy's Place" LP/CD Of all the hotly sought-after original Killed-By-Death punk singles, few to none are as notorious - or mysterious - as the "Gacy's Place" EP by The Mentally Ill. The sleeve, the topics, the so- horrible-it's-amazing production values, that voice. Many in the know crown it the sickest punk record ever made. But there is more - much more. The "Gacy's Place" sessions yielded eight songs - only three were ever released. A dig in the ol' crawlspace turned up even cruder earlier demos with alternate versions of the EP songs, plus over half-a-dozen others, heard only by a handful of people. A true labor of man-boy love, it took Jello Biafra years to pry this loose from the band. They kept insisting each album be housed in a 3-foot wide scale model of Gacy's house itself! Now their affliction has subsided enough so that everyone finally has a chance to save their $200 "evil-Bay" bucks and grab a whole album's worth of mental illness before their condition comes back. "Gacy's Place: The Undiscovered Corpses" compiles all three recording sessions by The Mentally Ill: The Starbeat Sessions, The Basement Sessions and The Crawlspace Sessions for a total of 20 tracks, nearly all previously unreleased! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
M.I.A. "Lost Boys" 2xLP/CD Classic early punk from Las Vegas' best! 37 tracks in all - includes Murder In A Foreign Place & Last Rites releases. Around 1983 M.I.A. relocated to Orange County and held their own with all the classic bands of the day, onstage and in the studio.Up north Maximum Rock'n'Roll had adopted them too, bending their own rules to make M.I.A. the only non-Bay Area band on the landmark Not So Quiet On The Western Front compilation. A normally reserved Jello Biafra offered them this labels services as soon as they walked off stage when he saw them in Las Vegas. The Murder In A Foreign Place ep was the result. It's all here; their side of the Last Rites album (originally split with another band they didn't even know would be on the record). Lost Boysalso includes early demos, lost live tracks and some excellent studio demos that pre-dated their later work. The LP and CD contain 80 minutes of soaring melodic punk and hardcore with plenty of power and variety. One of the all-time greats at the peak of their powers. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Mumia Abu-Jamal "All Things Censored" LP/CD This vitally important material with Mumia Abu Jamal was recorded just days before all interviews were banned! A great introduction to Mumia, along with a host of guest speakers including Judi Bari, Howard Zinn, and former Surgeon General of the United States Dr. Joycelyn Elders. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Nausea "Punk Terrorist Anthology Vol 1" CD "The 1980's were a tense time in America, Ronald Reagan was president, nuclear war was on everyoneís mind and racism was running rampant in the suburbs and the big city streets. The music was overshadowed with the then new MTV, cheese metal and complete apathy. The youth in America were consumed with total bullshit and were consuming all the appropriate products of bullshit. The Lower East Side of New York City was still a ghetto of some sorts, providing a home for struggling artists, musicians, activists, squatters, junkies and the generally poor community that had already existed there. Enter Nausea. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.) Nausea "Punk Terrorist Anthology Vol 2" CD
Nausea is one of the most influential New York City punk bands ever. Among the first bands to combine raw punk, metal and intense socio-political lyrics, creating a style often imitated but rarely equaled. Dual female/male vocalists trade off over a ferocious musical backdrop, this is the second collection of studio, demo, single, and live tunes from their heyday in the late 1980s! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Nob Dylan "Positively 12 Stiff Dylans" CD It's Green Bay's favorite hypermusicnerd- he of the mile-a-minute columns and banter with his former bands Suburban Mutilation and Boris The Sprinkler- Reverend Norb! Under his newest moniker Nob Dylan, the Rev takes the Bob Dylan you love to hate/hate to love and makes Dylan his bitch! That's right, Rev. Norb Does Dylan! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
No WTO Combo "Battle In Seattle" LP/CD Jello Biafra, Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), and Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) rocked their politics against the World Trade Organization in Seattle 1999. Unfortunately, the damage caused by unfettered "free" trade ensure that this cd is still completely relevant today. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Ratos De Porao "Carnicera Tropical" LP/CD Debut record for Alternative Tentacles from the Brazilian veterans who've released ten albums in all! Ratos de Porao ( Basement Rats in english ) have been playing, touring, and making records since the early 80's and were the first band from South America to put out a HC album.( back in 1983). On Carniceria Tropical, the band's sound is more similar to their early days, rather than their most recent albums, which crossed-over more to the metal fields. The album was recorded in Sao Paulo; produced and engineered by Billy Anderson (Logical Nonsense, Melvins, Neurosis). The music is a mix of crust, metal and 90's punk rock, not too far astray from elements of Logical Nonsense, Sepultura and old Slayer, but with much more severity and vocals that turns stomachs inside-out. Their sound is very raw and intense; this record is by far the most brutal of all their releases. The whole album is in Portuguese except one song that's sung in English . Lyrically RDP deal with the political and social problems troubling Brasil, yet offering positive messages for a better future. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Ratos De Porao "Sistemados Pelo" LP/CD his is their 1st album from 1983 re-recorded & mixed with heavy music master Billy Anderson. These Brazilian hc/metal veterans kick out the jams on the new versions of this record. Ratos de Porao (Basement Rats in english ) have been playing, touring, and making records since the early 80's and were the first band from South America to put out a HC album back in the early 1980s. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Subhumans "New Dark Age Parade" LP/CD In Canada's glorious punk history, few embodied the greatness of the 1978-82 era like The Subhumans (not to be confused with the UK Subhumans). They lived by their ideology, with one member's eventual involvement in an urban guerilla group, "Direct Action," leading to a lengthly jail term. Direct Action was active in the 1980s targeting facilities that posed serious threats to the environment and companies that directly contributed to the nuclear arms race, among others. New Dark Age Parade, unleashes 14 new songs, the first written by original members Mike Graham, Brian Goble and Gerry Hannah since 1982! (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Wesley Willis "Greatest Hits" CD No one is neutral about this man. A medically diagnosed chronic schizophrenic who makes a living selling his drawings and music on Chicago's streets. A "Best Of..." compiled by Jello Biafra from over two dozen self-produced CD's and some earlier unreleased tapes. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Wesley Willis "Greatest Hits Vol 2" CD Rock Over London...Rock on Chicago...The Big W is Back! The major label dust has settled; the cult following is ready for a fresh helping of seconds. Compiled once again by Jello Biafra (who is also writing the liner notes), "Greatest Hits Volume II" combines the best of Wesley's side- splittingly original insight with more personal songs that dignify and tell his story. For those new to Wesley Willis; Wesley is from Chicago. He quickly became a cult hero by performing (playing his Technics KN-2000 keyboard and singing) on the street and getting opening slots for bands playing in Chicago; bands which he then recorded songs about as an homage to their performances ("Urge Overkill", "Hammerhead", "Swervedriver", "Foo Fighters", "Superchunk", "The Frogs",...) Heck, Rocket From The Crypt even named one of their albums after one of his outbursts : "Scream, Dracula, Scream". Some have called him the hardest working man in show business. Since being diagnosed schizophrenic in 1989 he has recorded over 30 CDS. Writing, performing, and recording serve as therapy helping Wes quiet the voices in his head. Wesley Willis has been compared to Franz Kafka, Brian Wilson, Jad Fair, and Wild Man Fischer among others. And, not unlike other great songwriters, his songs have been described as: disturbing, hilarious, unique, raw, intoxicating, and honest. (Description from Alternative Tentacles web page.)
Wesley Willis "Rush Hour" CD Rush Hour is the third album of Wesley's released by Alternative Tentacles. Most of you no doubt recall Volume's 1 & 2 in our "greatest hits" series released in 1996 and 1999 respectively. Wesley recorded Rush Hour in 1993, and like the majority of his recordings, was never released. We already have used 5 tracks from the album in our "greatest hits" series. Jello realized that there were so many "greatest hits" candidates on Rush Hour, why not release the whole thing. Zolar X "Timeless" CD Strangest known band from the pre-punk dayze of glam. A sound like no other and a story as out there as the The Monks. A teenage Jello Biafra rolled his eyes when he saw Zolar X featured in Lenny Kaye's Rock Scene, but he never forgot the band!

In 1992 Beer City surveyed the punk rock wasteland, saw what the scene had become and decided that something needed to be done. (Description from Beer City web page.)Beerzone "Against The Flow" CD Arguably the finest UK street punk band and Scotland’s favourite punk rock sons, Beerzone, return with their third, and best album to date. Finally capturing the raw energy and power of their live shows on record, “Against The Flow”, cements the bands reputation as the finest hooligan export that money and beer can buy. “Against The Flow” is the hardest, yet at the same time, most melodic record the band have produced, and stand as a testament to both the time that they spent in the studio and natural song-writing ability. No-one is safe this time around, as Beerzone set their sites on Michael Jackson ands whatever it is that he gets up to when the sun goes down on Neverland, the folly of Prohibition, the dangers of internet love and more, and one the targets are acquired, Beerzone proceed to blow them away with their patented sing-a-long choruses. A defining moment in the history of street punk… 1. Against the Flow 2. Stupid Little Man 3. Bryza 4. Web of Lies 5. Don't Give a Fuck 6. Life's to Short 7. Can't you See 8. Ha Ha Ha 9. Broken Bones "F.O.A.D. + Never Say Die" CD “F.O.A.D”, the second and arguably, best album by Broken Bones fused the ferocity of debut, “Dem Bones” with an added sense of ferocity, melody and power, to become of one of the most important 80’s punk rock albums. Taking the punk rock blue print that was ingrained in their souls and adding a touch of the rising thrash metal movement, it became legendary in that it was and is widely regarded as one of the first Crossover records, and along with DRI, Broken Bones pioneered a movement whose fledgling steps gave rise to both the modern hardcore and metal scenes. Being half studio and half live, “F.O.A.D” showed a band equally comfortable in both worlds, from the opening riff happy salvo’s of “F.O.A.D” and “Teenage Kamikaze”, through to the incredible live set recorded at the Fulham Greyhound, the album sounds as fresh and vital as it did when it was first recorded nearly twenty years ago and puts ninety nine percent of modern so-called punk rock, hardcore and metal records to shame. For the first time, the “Never Say Die” 12” has been included as bonus tracks, a record which further highlighted the bands incredible sense of melody, power and rabid energy, which along with FOAD has been re- mastered from the original tapes, upping the Broken Bones ante once more, and with full lyrical accompaniment (that’s what a CD booklet’s for right?) being included for the first time, prepare to sing-a-long, be loud, be proud and be punk. Sit back, relax, tune in, drop out, press play and prepare to be blown away. It really was and is this good…. 1. F.O.A.D. 2. Kick Down the Door 3. Teenage Kamikaze 4. Programme Control 5. S.O.T.O. 6. Crusties "Rats Revenge" CD After twenty years, Milwaukee’s favourite Hardcore sons, The Crusties, unleash their second album, “Rats Revenge”. Tired of watching the Hardcore scene choke on it’s own apathy, whilst drowning in complacency, weighed down by self-righteous indignation fuelled by an unsustainable rulebook and clique mentality, The Crusties are back to reclaim Hardcore scene for the true believers. Fusing eighties brutality with quirky, offbeat and incredibly catchy songs buoyed by a level of musicianship and melody that’s almost non-existent within the hallowed halls of twenty first century Hardcore. “Rats Revenge” expands on the blueprint the band laid down throughout the eighties and nineties, creating a sonic attack designed to once again make punk rock a threat, challenging the narrow confines of genre and established ideas of how a punk rock record should sound, and in doing so, reveals the underground’s longest, best kept secret. The Crusties. With the world going to hell in hand-basket and a multitude of fingers hovering over the big button, it’s time to let the secret out of the bag before it’s too late. It’s time for Rats Revenge. (Description from Beer City web page.)
D.R.I. "Dealing with It" CD Where do you go and what do you do when you achieve near legendary status with your debut album? In DRI’s world, you release “Dealing With It”, a record that infused their increasing technicality with a love of metal and the raw, fast as hell Hardcore sound that they patented. Surpassing their debut, was never going to be easy, but with their second album, the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles managed to do just that in maelstrom of vicious, catchy, cerebral Hardcore and Metal.. D.R.I. "Dirty Rotten LP: Original Mix and order" CD Every story has a beginning and every legend has to start somewhere. For DRI, crossover pioneers, it began with the release of “The Dirt Rotten” LP. It refined and reshaped Hardcore, crafting a weapon of high energy, fast as hell, emotionally charged punk rock that altered the face of the Hardcore scene forever. Spawning a thousand second rate copycat bands, and ushering in the age of thrash, “The Dirty Rotten LP” is still the Holy Grail of Hardcore, the shining light that many try, and always fail, to imitate, the yardstick to which each and every new thrash band is and always will be compared, and falls short of. Presented once again in all it’s original glory, artwork, track listing and sound, it remains a testament to the scene it gave birth to. This is where legend began, this is “The Dirty Rotten LP” (Description from Beer City web page.)
D.R.I. "Dirty Rotten LP + EXTRAS" CD This is where it all began. Where the legend started. DRI defined Hardcore, shaped it, moulded it and made it their own, crafting a raw musical form into a focused weapon, they released a record that would rarely be bettered and never surpassed. Regarded by many as one of the best and most influential Hardcore records ever committed to vinyl, “The Dirty Rotten LP” is finally re- issued, and finally given the release it so truly deserves. Along with LP, the CD also contains the “Violent Pacification” EP, the legendary VATS recording sessions, the bands first live radio session recorded for KPFT Houston in 1982, rare, rarely heard radio interview footage, and if that wasn’t enough, also includes interactive video footage from the bands first show at the home of Hardcore, CBGB’s, in 1983. D.R.I. "Live at CBGBs 1984" CD Remember when HC was just that? When it was HC, and not some watered down, consumer led fad forced into mainstream acceptance via corporate policy and greed? You do? So do D.R.I., and as such they (along with Beer City) have unleashed “CBGB”, recorded on their infamous 1984 US tour, at the home of hardcore, which helped to establish the legend of the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles…this is how HC should be. Loud, proud, aggressive and raw. Nothing else matters. Close your eyes, suit up and get ready to slam. Who would have thought a history lesson could be this much fun? The past never sounded so good… 1. I Dont Need Society 2. Reaganomics 3. Commuter Man 4. Plastique 5. Why 6. Balance of Terror 7. My Fate to Hate 8. Who am I 9. Money Stinks 10. Human Waste 11. Faction "Collection Vol 1: 1982-85" CD Think about skating, and you think about punk rock. The two have become inseparable, the terrible twins, joined at birth and destined to suffer together throughout their increasingly dangerous life spans. Out of the madness that linked both, skate rock was born, and the band that epitomised and epitomises skate rock more than any other are The faction. Formed by Steve Cabellero and fellow skaters, the band had one function. To provide a soundtrack that could be skated to. One that was hard enough to grind along with, powerful enough to fuel a thousand vert tricks and street sessions, that raised a middle finger to the middle finger to the mainstream play it safe, stand on edges wannabe skaters and their ilk and catchy enough to sing along with and dance to at the pool parties and barbecues that followed every session. The Faction fulfilled the dreams of Cabellero, and went above and beyond his wildest expectations. “Collection” draws twenty eight of the best songs from all of The factions previous releases and offers them up to the skate gods to dispense to the kids discovering four wheels and a board for the first tie and veteran riders alike. The Faction are back… 1. Tongue Like a Battering Ram 2. Friends & Enemies 3. The Kids are the Future 4. Dark Room 5. Being Watched 6. Corpse in Disguise 7. Let's Go Get Cokes 8. Hatework "Thrash N Roll" CD After waiting for a lifetime for someone, some band, something to kick start and one again light the fire of the Crossover movement, Hatework, a incendiary Italian metal crew arrived to take the challenge and raise the flag for the long gone, never forgotten thrash genre. Combining the raw aggression, playing ability and precision of early Metallica, Slayer and Exodus with screaming, squealing guitars and thunderous double kick speed, and a punk rock attitude, Hatework are here to bring the world to it’s knees. Grow your mohawk, break out your air guitar and throw the sign of the evil eye it’s slamming time… 1. I.D.T. 2. Thrash 'N' Roll 3. XXX 4. Heaven's on Fire 5. Devil Eye 6. I Don't Care 7. War Again 8. Impulse Manslaughter "Live at WFMU" CD Crossover. The word used to send shivers down the spines of thousands, used to make grown men weep, and send indie kids and hippies running for the hills. The movement was, and is a gargantuan force to be reckoned with, and standing at its forefront were Impulse Manslaughter, band that took no crap and played, night after night, like their lives depended on it. Which, given the bands live reputation, they probably did…They devastated both Europe and the US, preferring to call their guerrilla warfare, touring, playing alongside and blowing away the likes of Napalm Death and MDC. Eventually though, even the most violent hurricanes die out, and after a couple of albums and numerous single the band called it a day, going out in a blaze of glory rather than fading away over time… Live at WMFU captures a session the band recorded during the 1993 East Coast tour of the US. NO thrills, no over dubs, no studio trickery, just a razor sharp Crossover crew doing what they did best. Playing live for those in the know. WMFU presents the original set in it’s original glory alongside a selection of rare songs and best cuts from their previous albums. For those who came in late, it’s time to play catch up… 1. MDC "Now More Than Ever: 1980-2000" CD Whether they were playing out and recording as Millions Of Dead Cops, Multinational Death Corporations or Millions of Damn Christians, MDC only knew one way to play the game. Their way. That is, hard, fast, uncompromising political punk rock who’s bark was always far worse than it’s bite. Wherever and whenever two things are always guaranteed with MDC. That the forces of law and order and all that is supposedly good and righteous will be keeping a close eye on these Texan maniacs, and that the faithful will descend in their masses to witness Reverend Dave Dictor and crew preach their sermons and get the hell out of Dodge before they’re gunned down. “Now More Than Ever”, a curiously apt title, is a retrospective of the bands twenty plus year career, culling songs from all of their previous records and including such rarities as “My Dog Has No Girlfriend” from the Repeat Offenders split, the Michelle Shocked cover “Secret To A Long Live”, an unreleased Submissives (Dave Dictors side project with Pig Champion of Poison Idea fame) and a brand new version of fan favourite “More Sqwuack”, this is the sound of MDC on fire. For the faithful and new converts alike, “Now More Than Ever” opens the door to the church of MDC. It’s time to walk over the threshold… 1. Business on Parade 2. Dead Cops/America's so Straight 3. Corporate Deathburger 4. John Wayne was a Nazi 5. My Family is a Little Weird 6. Multi Death Corporation 7. Chicken Squawk 8. No more Cops 9. Drink to Forget 10. Tofutti 11. Toxic Reasons "Independence" LP/CD In the early eighties, if you’d mentioned punk rock, or heaven forbid, Hardcore to anyone, the first places that would have sprung to mind were New York, Boston, DC, LA or San Francisco. Ask them about the Mid West, and they’d probably have phoned the funny farm and booked your one way ticket for you. But, there was indeed a rumbling in the Mid West. It went by the name of Toxic Reasons, a band who drew their influences from the stagnating UK punk rock scene and the freshly developed US Hardcore sound. Their sound became legendary, their name passed on in letters from coast to coast, and after touring and playing with the likes of The Dead Kennedy’s, MDC, and Verbal Abuse, Toxic Reasons recorded their now infamous debut Independence. Re-released by Beer City with a full colour poster accompanying the vinyl and a sixteen page booklet accompanying the CD, “Independence” sounds as fresh and vital today as it did over twenty years ago. A must for any serious punk or Hardcore scenester. 1. Mercenary 2. Drunk and Disorderly 3. War Hero 4. Riot Squad 5. Noise Boys 6. Ghost Town 7. Killer 8. Somebody Help Me 9. How do you Feel 10. Verbal Abuse "Just An American Band" CD 1983. The East and West were engaged in the cold war, economic collapse loomed just around the corner, democracy was slowly being strangled by Reagan and Thatcher, Orwell’s vision of 1984 loomed large on the horizon and Verbal Abuse recorded their seminal album, “Just An American Band”. Having moved from Texas to San Francisco in 1981 and subsided on a diet supplied by soup kitchens and whatever else they could lay their hands whilst playing shows with MDC, The Dicks and The Big Boys, Verbal Abuse epitomised the term Hardcore. Theirs was a sound born of fury, born of righteous anger. This was hardcore in it’s rawest form, undiluted by the outside world. The band were a soundtrack to a scene still in it’s infancy, a scene that rallied and stood firm against the outside world. MTV had yet to sink it’s corporate teeth into the scene, the notion of anything pop being associated with punk rock was a joke. Whilst “American Band” may not sound as clean and polished as the slick boy band poseurs passing themselves off as punk rockers of toady, it’s power and passion remain as a testament to a time when to be hardcore, you had to live hardcore. Anything else was unacceptable. Re-issued by Beer City, along with a live set from the 1984 tour on which the band played with punk legends as The Ramones, The Dead Kennedys, Die Krezen, Poison Idea and the Cro Mags, and featuring sleeve notes from the band themselves, “Just An American Band” is the sound of liberty. The sound of an emerging force, of a band who lived it, eat it , slept it, dreamt it and did it. This is Verbal Abuse. This is Hardcore. 1. Power Play 2. Leeches 3. I Hate You 4. Social Insect 5. Very Metal "Hit And Run" CD Taking their name from the chaotic 80’s British sitcom, “The Young Ones” (the slogan that appeared on the back of confused genre punk Vivian’s jacket), how could Very Metal be anything but anarchic, crazy and damn right loud and rude to boot? Whipping up a devastating conjunction of early UK punk rock and Hardcore, this bunch of reprobates from St. Louis, walk it like they talk it. There isn’t any middle ground, it’s all the way or nothing. They’re here for one reason and one reason alone, to crush anything that gets in their way and have a damn good time whilst they're doing it. Sounding like (and having previously been compared to) an unholy concoction of Motorhead, The Necros, The Cro-Mags and Exploited (with an added does of Methamphetamine), Very Metal have delivered “Hit And Run”, a fourteen song opus that’ll have you singing along before it tears your head off. 13 tracks 42 minutes. The band's first release of NEW material since they reformed 9 years ago! Mixing anger, wit and analysis with their trademark dynamic punk ethos this is the Subhumans at their most crushing and intense. You realize that they didn’t decide to make a new album, but had to. There’s a message front and center- they’re fed up with war and politics, and they’ve got something to say about it. Just as they always have been, the Subhumans are the voice of the common man. Twisted, dissonant guitar and discontented vocals backed up with hard-hitting drums and punchy bass lines. Seems like every hardcore band these days is claiming Black Flag as an influence, but these guys really have it, as well as a hefty helping of Poison Idea for flavor. This is the first record by these young men from Brandon, Florida. Expect more from them. HEAR THE SONG "Bitter End" FROM THIS RECORD Death Sentence "Until The End Of The Sentence (1985-89)" CD
Death Sentence terrorized the Australian hardcore scene from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s. In their time, they were the fastest band in the southern hemisphere and one of the fastest in the world. They have been compared often to SIEGE and D.R.I. A hard-working band, Death Sentence made numerous recordings. Everything the band ever released -- and more -- is on "Until The End Of The Sentence," a 50 minute, 35 song history lesson. The 24-page CD booklet is filled with live photos, lyrics, show flyers, a 1985 zine interview and other memoribilia. The music has been restored professionally so it is louder and stronger than ever. A must for all thrashers, hardcores and punks. TOTAL RUNNING TIME: 50:13 of high speed Australian thrashcore! Fans of Septic Death, Larm, Heresy, Siege, Ripcord and early D.R.I. should check it out. HEAR THE SONG "Air That We Breathe" FROM THIS RECORD F "Four From '84" 7"
F, the band, the legend... These South Florida anti-heros began in 1981 and are still playing their patented slice-n-dice punk rocknroll to this day. The four songs on this record were hand picked from a 1984 studio session, originally released as a cassette called, "The Danger is Here!" Few copies of the tape were made and still fewer made it out of South Florida. This is their first time on vinyl. Many myths, rumors and misinformation have circulated about F since their wild beginnings. The extensive interview and liner notes enclosed tell the complete band history, pulling no punches and leaving no stone unturned. Fans of Pagans, Dead Boys, Dogs, Pure Hell and Stooges need to hear this. Colored vinyl for you collectors to drool over, too. HEAR THE SONG "I Saw Your Vision in A Three Car Collision" FROM THIS RECORD Hated Youth/Roach Motel LP
This record is a ripper. Nineteen previously unreleased Hated Youth tunes from 1984 that were originally supposed to be an album on Destroy Records. Comes with an eight page magazine, full of lyrics, photos and old show flyers. Two Burrito veterans return to damage your ears. Otophobia whips thru six songs so fast and brutal you'd swear you were hit by the space shuttle. On the other side ROI kicks out the jams with four tough HC rockers. First press is on colored vinyl. HEAR THE OTOPHOBIA SONG "Brief Summary Of Life" FROM THIS RECORD HEAR THE REASON OF INSANITY SONG "Hauling Ass" FROM THIS RECORD Race Against Time "Depths Of The Antbed" 7"
Seven killer songs from Houston, featuring members of Reason Of Insanity and Pretty Little Flower. Take the skills of present day Japanese hardcore (Forward, Slang, DSB, etc) and combine that with the structure of early American hardcore, such as NOTA and the Offenders. Strong playing, good lyrics, looks really cool. HEAR THE SONG "Raised By Wolves" FROM THIS RECORD Race Against Time/Reason Of Insanity 7"
Five more ragers from the ever-prolific ROI -- a nice mix of hardcore/thrash influences, ranging from the Offenders to Treblinka. The second outing by Houston's RAT: three ear-blasting originals and a Bastard cover. It's a lights-out cage match to determine for once and for all, who is the champion of Gulf Coast Hardcore A whopping nine songs in 11:23. (Description from the CAH web page.)Accion Mutante "Complete Discography" CD This is the definitive and complete Accion Mutante discography from CAH Records. Ten years of skull smashing, extreme crust from Germany. This disc features 33 tracks of all Accion Mutante's 7"s, Flexis, splits, 10"s, and benefit comps. It also includes photos and complete lyrics. Accion Mutante's pulverizing speed and growling vocals compliment their intelligent social/political lyrics. This is an excellent discography especially if you're missing some of the earlier of out-of- print releases. This discography is guaranteed to grind your face off. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Agathocles "Alive and Mincing" CD This is a great live album by these grindcore, or should i say mince-core, veterans. These guys have been playing this stuff for over 15 years and still have high energy and rip the audience to shreds! ...This Cd is really good! It's a great recording for a live album. The drums are heavy as hell, and the guitars, bass, and vocals are all quite audible. This would be a good Cd for someone who hasn't heard them before, because it's a compilation of a lot of material from past to present. Heavy grindcore by the ones who invented mince-core... Awesome! (Description from the CAH web page.)
Desolatevoid "Self Medicated Psycho Therapy" CD DESOLATEVOID ain't foolin' around. That such a quality dish of battery acid and pit bull balls has been released on one of the premier crust punk and grind labels, Crimes Against Humanity, is not surprising. While Self Medicated Psycho Therapy is not exclusively a crust or grindcore album, bits of both genres are mixed into the putrid stew. Hell, there's enough crust covering this black-toothed sludge metal bitch to bake the world's largest apple pie. Consider an album that is anchored in a more straight ahead SOILENT GREEN, sucks the bone marrow out of EYEHATEGOD, and smokes up a little HIGH ON FIRE (the latter two both acknowledged influences). Maybe then you'll understand why this shit is too heavy for the candy asses among you. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Disgust "The Horror Of It All" CD Disgust play a brutal mix of crust/grind, hardcore and swedish thrash. Their sound just kicks you in the teeth and never lets up for the course of the 17 tracks on here, really brutal stuff. Most of the songs are pretty short, with excellent riffs, pummeling drums and a razorblade vocal attack and with a good amount of speed that just never stops. The songs pummell but at the same time, the song writing is extremely catchy... I could imagine these guys put on an excellent live show. Overall if you like stuff like Disrupt, Benumb, Discharge, Otophobia, Word Salad.. all of the crusty grinding stuff, you're going to love this. Disgust simply destroy, highly recommended! (Description from the CAH web page.)
Driller Killer "And The Winner Is..." CD 13 tracks of devastating Swedish hardcore played with unmatched brutality and experience. Thick metal-edged guitars backed by punishing d-beat drumming and extremely harsh low-end vocals courtesy of the bands founder. This album continues to deal out their own brand of raw aggression laced with the harsh realities of life. Pissed off is an understatement. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Driller Killer "Fuck The World" CD These guys are really hard to categorize. There's aspects of metal, punk, crust, hardcore, thrash and all that good stuff. I'd definitely say that thrash, punk, and metal dominate. One consistency across the board is that scent of Swedish background and influence you get from good Scandinavian bands. I would definitely say Fuck The World is very comparable to Disrupt or even Doom. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Driller Killer "Cold, Cheap & Disconnected" CD Driller Killer's sixth full length and it follows the progression that you see in their style when comparing albums not to mention the high levels of kickassitude. This album sticks with their metal infused Scandinavian hardcore sound that their known for as is expected. What really separates this album from the others is that it leans more towards that metal side. More complex fills and solos pull it further away from being thrown in with other hardcore bands. Basically, if you like other Driller Killer releases you're not going to be disappointed by any means (Description from the CAH web page.)
Driller Killer "Reality Bites" CD Reality Bites is Driller Killer's fourth full length and has a noticeable style alteration from their release prior to this, Fuck The World, mainly because there seems to be a lot more mid-tempo beats. The fast stuff is still comparable to Disrupt or Doom, but with more thrash / speed metal oriented riffs than Fuck The World. Think D.R.I. or even early 80s Metallica. At the same time, some of the mid-tempo songs remind me of old crust in the category of Extinction of Mankind. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Driller Killer "Total Fuckin' Brutalized" CD Total Fuckin' Brutalized is a combination of Driller Killer's first two albums Total Fucking Hate and Brutalize. There is a very prominent old Swedish hardcore sound melded with old crust similar to Doom and Extinction of Mankind. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Gaurithoth "Perverse" CD This record absolutely shreds with perfectly executed black metal that blends fierce speeds and lightly dissonant midpaced fare with a dual vocal attack and a crisp recording. The shit totally smokes, I love it. Fans of the genre should eat these jams up. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Hellshock "Shadows Of The Afterworld" Second full length from one of Portlands best bands at the moment. Crust inspired metal punk. that sounds as if it were right out of the late 1980s UK crust explosion! Recorded during the same session as the "Warlord" EP, the sound is just as crystal clear so you feel the full brunt of each note as it smashes you in the face. A totally awesome jammer, ya'll! (Description from the CAH web page.)
Homoiratus "Apocalypse" CD It reminds me a little bit of Brutal Truth and even Jungle Rot (mainly due to the grooviness of the riffs) to an extent with smatterings of crust, dark melody and a just a tiny bitof industrial sounds. The guitar style on this album has a really unique sound to it. It's very staccato sounding and almost reminds me of what Helmet might sound like if they started playing death/grind. The riffs are out of this world though and they continually jump out at me from song to song. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Massmord "Inget Liv" CD 11 tracks of downtuned and dark Swedish hardcore with lots of piercing guitar leads, brutal bass lines, whirlwind drumming, and dual fe/male trade-off vocals. And even though this might fall under the category of modern melodic crust it's overall much faster than the average bands playing similar styles. Think Wolfbrigade and To What End? mixed with some From Ashes Rise and Kylesa. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Misery "Production Through Destruction" CD This is the CD repress of MISERY's first LP from the mid-90s, which is now long out of print. MISERY have been the purveyors of the finest in heavy, metallic, AMEBIX-style crust for a long friggin time now, and this is some of their best material, finally available to the punk masses again, with all the original artwork. This is crust at its best! You know em, you love em, so pick up this CD. More Misery available on Havoc Records and Profane Existence. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Misery "Early Years" CD Brand new cd with all of their out of print material. They include the Blindead, Born Fed Slaughtered, Children Of War 7s and the S.D.S. Split Lp, And the Production Through Destruction Lp. Over 71 minutes full of Amebix influenced crust fucking punk. More Misery available on Havoc Records and Profane Existence. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Neuron "Gleichschritt" CD Debut full-length from German socio-political grinders Neuron, blends textbook grindcore mastery with just the right amount of death metal which should please anyone who thinks the idea of classic Brutal Truth battling against the early days of Pestilence while the best Polish grindcore acts of the last five years cheer them on sounds like a good time. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Pisshead Blues Band CD This is an acoustic blues project started a few years back by Jon of Misery, Matt of Civil Disobedience and Bree from Deadstate. This CD is the product of many evenings in the basement studio at the house of Misery, getting fucked up, rocking out with acoustic guitars and lamenting the bullshit life sends you. Most of the lyrics are absolutely hilarious (Description from the CAH web page.)
Urban Head Raw "Human Instinct" CD Urban Head Raw, are a killer crust/metal trio from Japan who completely lay waste to all in their path. These guys totally destroy from the first track to the last, they play extremely heavy crust that brings in some awesome metal influence that is a bit thrashy all around. They're not overly fast, not of grindcore speed but rather maintain a nice balance between fast and midpaced song structures. The focus here is more on delivering, viciously punishing and dense songs as opposed to just going over the top with speed. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Warspite "Gallery Of The Macabre" CD This is probably the best death metal release I've heard all year, unless my horrible memory is forgetting something... but either way, it's easily one of the top 10 death metal releases of the last five years, without question. (Aversiononline.com posting on relapse.com) (Description from the CAH web page.)
Wartorn "In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy War" CD Pulverising hardcore / crust from current members of Words That Burn. Wartorn play a brutalized style of Swedish styled State of Fear driven insanity. If you like State of Fear you'll like Wartorn. After Wartorns' previous 7 (Limited to 300) sold completely out in a short amount of time. And also a couple tours under their belts already you better get ready to be blown away by this modern day crust-punk classic album. Get it now. Cover art by Marald as well. (Description from the CAH web page.)
Words That Burn "Spawning Ground For Hatred" CD Words that Burn play an insane mix of crust, grind, hardcore and metal with fast as hell songs, blazing riffs that stick to your brain and some seriously insane vocal tradeoffs mixing blood curdling growls and high pitched screams/shouts. These guys lay down some serious damage for only a three piece, that's for certain. Despite the speed on display here, Words that Burn have an extremely dense sound that gives you a claustrophobic feeling as if you're head will explode at any moment.

Started by Dr. Bill in 1988 in an effort for like minded people to get punk records for FAIR prices. Top^ Back To Dr Strange Records in Main Catalog
Black Market Baby "Coulda... Shoulda... Woulda..." CD Cool collection of out-of-print material from this pioneering Washington, DC punk band. Twenty-six punk rock anthems, many of which were recorded at Inner Ear Studios with DON ZIENTARA and producers IAN MACKAYE and SKIP GROFF. Packaged with liner notes by JOHN STABB (G.I.) and plenty of unseen photos.
Broken Bones "Time For Anger... Not Justice" CD 13 songs More Broken Bones available on Beer City Records
Channel 3 "S/T" CD The Legendary CHANNEL THREE return with an all new 14 song studio release! Produced by Jim Monroe (FARSIDE, GAMEFACE, etc...), and mastered by John Golden (BAD BRAINS, BLACK FLAG, etc...), this is by far their best offering since 1982's Fear of Life. Loud guitars, pounding drums, punchy bass and agressive vocals. This record brings back the sound that made CHANNEL THREE one of the most respected and admired punk rock bands to have ever emerged from southern California.
Chiefs "Hollywest Crisis" CD One of the first punk rock bands to have emerged from Huntington Beach, Ca. [1979]. Contains all their stuff: "Blues" 7"ep, songs from "Who Cares" comp and "Cracks in the Sidewalk" comp "Chunks" comp, plus unreleased tracks, 13 songs in all.
External Menace "The Process Of Elimination" CD External Menace has been producing great punk along the lines of GBH, Stiff Little Fingers, Varukers and The Threats since the early 1980s. This disc of new material has 22 songs.
Flux Of Pink Indians/Epileptics CD One of the "biggies" of the peace punk movement. You not only get FLUX OF PINK INDIANS but also the band that became FLUX, THE EPILEPTICS. (Many of the EPILEPTICS songs became FLUX OF PINK INDIANS songs). Playing right alongside bands such as Crass, DIRT, Icons of Filth, Subhumans, etc.. FLUX OF PINK INDIANS have a huge following, and rightly so. This cd has been re-mastered (NOT remixed!) to add more "punch" and loudness. This also contains the never before released version of THE EPILEPTICS 7" 1970's with Penny from Crass on drums. LOTS of ultra-rare stuff, never before released demos, live, as well as FLUX OF PINK INDIANS 7"s "Neu Smell" and "Taking a Liberty". 24 song of Anarcho-Punk Rock.
Freeze "Token Bones" CD All their hard to get stuff, , first 2 7'S, Boston NoT LA tracks and 4 never before released songs. 27 songs in all.
Freeze "One False Move" CD Their most recent studio album. Great as ever with art by Edward Gorey.
Freeze "Land Of The Lost+Rabid Reaction" CD Great first 2 LPs and the "Guilty Face" 7" all on one disc. Their best!
Freeze "Freak Show/Crawling Blind" CD Two of the bands late 1980s-early 1990s albums on one disc. Still solid.

Government Issue "Complete History Vol 2" 2xCD "G.I. was one of the biggest and most popular bands to have emerged from the D.C. scene of the early '80s. Playing with the likes of MINOR THREAT, SOA, IRON CROSS, and THE TEEN IDLES to name just a few. Get a few of these... Otherwise the Doc will have to make a house call to examine your brain. It doesn't get much better than this. "Few bands have made as successful a transition from pure hardcore to a more melodic realm as GOVERNMENT ISSUE"- Al Quint/Suburban Voice More Government Issue available on the "Dischord '81" CD, the "Flex Your Head" compilation and the "20 Years Of Dischord" box set on Dischord Records.
Partisans "Idiot Nation" CD All new stuff! First Full Length LP in 20 years!
Skulls "Thereapy For The Shy" CD Debut full length from one of LA's first punk bands. Since their inception in 1978 (!) they've only appeared on compilations. This is no reunion record, this is an active, touring band.
Skulls "Golden Age Of Piracy" CD The Doc is pleased as punch to release the second full length from one of the true legends of Punk Rock: THE SKULLS! If you thought their fisrt full length release Therapy For the Shy was great (you'd be right) but this new release, The Golden Age of Piracy, blows it away! One ear-crushing, drum-pounding Punk Rock anthem after the next, VERY powerful and more "catchy" than herpies. THE SKULLS consist of lead singer Billy Bones, James "Hardslug" Harding (of THE ADICTS) on bass, Sean "Geronimo" Antillon (GEARS, CONTROLLERS) on drums and one of the best guitarist out there Kevin "the Kid" Gorman
Stalag 13 "In Control" CD Stalag 13 emerged from the "Nardcore" scene of the early 80's along with other greats such as: Agression, Ill Repute, Stretch Marks, RKL and Dr. Know. On this reissue you get the original LP, the same classic artwork, and 4 bonus songs (!) never before released, as well as a great cd booklet with never- seen photos and old fliers! More Stalag 13 and similar bands available on the "Nardcore" compilation CD on Mystic Records.

You get 21 songs from these long sought-after releases: the first Noise From Nowhere 7" comp with infamous "exploding penis" artwork by PUSHEAD, Pomona CA's PEACE CORPSE Quincy 7"EP (more gruesome PUSHEAD art), Victoria B.C.'s RED TIDE Kelp and Salal 7"EP (featuring the future drummer for D.O.A., Ken Jensen R.I.P.), and Salt Lake City's MASSACRE GUYS Behind the Eight Ball 7"EP (with future and current DECENDENTS/ALL members Karl Alvarez and Stephen Egerton). Liner notes from Bill Toxic, remastered, great CD booklet with lots of photos and old ads from the lost archives of Toxic Shock's Pomona years.
Frontier Records was founded in 1980 by Lisa Fancher. It was one of the first independent labels to document the nascent hard-core punk rock scene of Los Angeles. After learning the indie label ropes from her mentors Greg and Suzy Shaw at Bomp! Records, Fancher first hit the jackpot with the release of Group Sex by the Circle Jerks (it should be noted that very first Frontier release was the self-titled EP by the Flyboys). The success of Group Sex set the label up for iconic punk releases by the Adolescents, T.S.O.L., China White and Suicidal Tendencies. (Description from the Frontier web page.)
